ACTE AWARD CATEGORIES

Teacher of the Year
Recognize teachers who are providing outstanding career and technical education programs for youth and/or adults in their respective fields and communities. Recipients of this award must have made significant contributions toward innovative, unique, and novel programs that are serving to improve and promote career and technical education. To be eligible, an individual must be currently employed as full-time classroom/laboratory teachers. Contributions on which the nomination is based should have been made within the past ten years. Nominees must be active members of ACTE.

Arch of Fame
Recognizes the contributions and distinguished accomplishments of those persons who have been identified with the work and purposes of the Association for Career and Technical Education. The Arch of Fame is a means by which ACTE provides recognition for the commitment and dedication that individuals may have demonstrated to the organization. Watchful and responsible selection of inductees shall be maintained to ensure the esteem and worthiness of the award. The award will be given only to ACTE members who have made a significant impact on the field of career and technical education.

Outstanding Career and Technical Educator
Recognizes career and technical educators, other than full-time classroom teachers, who have recently provided or currently are providing sign8ificant contributions to professional association and career and technical education programs for youth and/or adults. Recipients must have made significant contributions toward innovative, unique and novel programs and or improvement, promotion, research or development of programs. Recipients must have been active members of ACTE for the past five years.

Outstanding Service
Recognizes educators who have made the highest meritorious contributions to the improvement, promotion, development and progress of career and technical education. This award will be presented to individuals who have made contributions above the salaried position assignments at the local, state, regional and national levels. Nominees must be active members of ACTE.

Carl Perkins Humanitarian Award
This award is given to individuals who have made outstanding meritorious contributions of state or national significance to the improvement, promotion, development and progress of career and technical education. It is given to individual who have demonstrated humanitarian concerns exemplified by Representative Perkins.

Award of Merit
Recognizes individuals or organizations outside the field of career and technical education for the highest meritorious contributions to the improvement, promotion, development and progress of career and technical education.

Outstanding Teacher in Community Service
Recipients must have made significant contributions toward training, motivating and inspiring their peers and students to become involved in programs and projects that benefit their communities.

New Career and Technical Teacher
Recognizes new professionals. Recipients must have made significant contributions toward innovations, unique and novel programs and have shown a professional commitment early in their careers.

Region V Innovative Program Award
Recognizes programs in career and technical education that exemplify the standards of excellence for career preparation as determined by the ACTE Region V policy Committee. Award winners will be recognized at the annual ACTE Region V Conference.
